Join us in celebrating the 2016 class of Allen Distinguished Educators on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Austin Downtown 6th Floor, Grand Ballroom during SXSWedu. The Allen Distinguished Educators (ADE) program will publicly announce the winners of the $25,000 ADE Award, which recognizes and rewards teachers who are leading and developing innovative computer science, engineering and/or entrepreneurship programs that support real-world applications, hands-on learning, and provide students with the essential skills and concepts they will need to succeed in the 21st century.

Enjoy refreshments and interactive activities, hear from our guest speaker Dale Dougherty, founder of MAKE magazine and creator of the Maker Faire, and celebrate exceptional teachers who are redefining excellence and reinventing the classroom during the awards reception. Complimentary drinks and appetizers will be available to attendees in the lobby beginning at 6:00pm, and the program will begin at 6:45. This event is open to all SXSWedu attendees, so save the date, bring your colleagues, and join our celebration.

About The Allen Distinguished Educators Program

The Allen Distinguished Educators (ADE) program recognizes and rewards teachers who “break the mold” of traditional schooling to provide students with real-world opportunities to become thinkers, makers, and creators through computer science, engineering, and entrepreneurship education. The program was developed by Paul G. Allen based on his belief that innovation is a key driver in improving learning opportunities for young people.
